Katrina Hoernig Interview
DNA model Katrina Hoernig awnsers some questions.
How did you get into the modeling business? How old were you?
I was 16 when a small talent agency found me in Indiana.
How did your friends react when they found out that you were a model?
I actually didn’t tell many people! But the people I did tell were so excited for me!! A couple “I told you so’s” and “it’s about time’s” even though I never envisioned myself as a model.
What are your favorite places to shop?
Thrift stores, old basements, friends closets, vintage stores, and online occasionally. I love to take old pieces and make them into beautiful and wearable up-to-date pieces, than paring them with newer pieces.
How would you describe your personal style?
I good mix of vintage and edgy.
What music have you been listening to lately?
Very chill and paralyzing.

Who are your favorite fashion designers?
Well I can never say no to the look of Celine and Chloe, I’ve always had a place in my heart for Marc, and recently Ann Demeulemeester.
Do you have any friends who are in the fashion/modeling business?
Actually, ever since I’ve become full time international, most of my friends are in the industry! But traveling makes it hard to stay in contact, but I’m constantly meeting new people!
Do you plan on attending college later?
Oh, definitely!! Studying Interior Design has been my original dream for a long time, but modeling was this once in a lifetime career that I couldn’t deny, and it pays for my studies.
What’s the last book that you read?
Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares, I strongly recommend it! It has a close place in my heart, it hits close to home.
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Hopefully studying Interior Design after my brilliant modeling career!
If you had three wishes, what would you wish for?
For me to land a big campaign, tickets to concerts of my favorite bands, and for my father to get a job.

Do you have any hidden talents?
Uhh, I played piano for 7 years, as well as Clarinet and Bass Clarinet. And my room is stuffed full of my paintings and drawings.
What makes you happy?
Being around the people I love.
Who are your role models?
My parents.
What’s your favorite thing to eat?
Asian food, of course!
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Indecisive, impatient and passionate.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Read, play sims, wander through the forest.
What is your most prized possession?
My vintage odds and ends, like my grandmothers sewing machine from the Netherlands, typewriter, one-slide projector, hope chest, trunk, dollhouse, hat boxes, atomizers, sea foam green sewing machine and much more.

What’s your favorite color?
Grey-bluish-green.
Who are the models that you admire the most?
The ones that aren’t hot-headed, have a strong sense of who they are, and don’t let the industry get to them. I guess those are all sort of similar but they are important.
What is your biggest fear?
Being alone, and not in a relationship sense, more of a literal alone. Just simply having no one.
What’s the name of the movie that you watch over and over again and never get tired of?
Sword in the Stone.
What’s your favorite fashion magazine?
Lula.
Do you have any advice to young girls who want to become a model?
Probably the biggest tip I could give a girl is to really truly know who you are, because the industry can eat you alive and change you into someone who you don’t even recognize anymore.
