Katrina Hoernig Interview

DNA model Katrina Hoernig awnsers some questions.

How did you get into the modeling business? How old were you?
I was 16 when a small talent agency found me in Indiana.

How did your friends react when they found out that you were a model?
I actually didn’t tell many people! But the people I did tell were so excited for me!! A couple “I told you so’s” and “it’s about time’s” even though I never envisioned myself as a model.

What are your favorite places to shop?
Thrift stores, old basements, friends closets, vintage stores, and online occasionally. I love to take old pieces and make them into beautiful and wearable up-to-date pieces, than paring them with newer pieces.

How would you describe your personal style?
I good mix of vintage and edgy.

What music have you been listening to lately?
Very chill and paralyzing.

Who are your favorite fashion designers?
Well I can never say no to the look of Celine and Chloe, I’ve always had a place in my heart for Marc, and recently Ann Demeulemeester.

Do you have any friends who are in the fashion/modeling business?
Actually, ever since I’ve become full time international, most of my friends are in the industry! But traveling makes it hard to stay in contact, but I’m constantly meeting new people!

Do you plan on attending college later?
Oh, definitely!! Studying Interior Design has been my original dream for a long time, but modeling was this once in a lifetime career that I couldn’t deny, and it pays for my studies.

What’s the last book that you read?
Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares, I strongly recommend it! It has a close place in my heart, it hits close to home.

Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Hopefully studying Interior Design after my brilliant modeling career!

If you had three wishes, what would you wish for?
For me to land a big campaign, tickets to concerts of my favorite bands, and for my father to get a job.

Do you have any hidden talents?
Uhh, I played piano for 7 years, as well as Clarinet and Bass Clarinet. And my room is stuffed full of my paintings and drawings.

What makes you happy?
Being around the people I love.

Who are your role models?
My parents.

What’s your favorite thing to eat?
Asian food, of course!

How would you describe yourself in three words?
Indecisive, impatient and passionate.

What do you like to do in your free time?
Read, play sims, wander through the forest.

What is your most prized possession?
My vintage odds and ends, like my grandmothers sewing machine from the Netherlands, typewriter, one-slide projector, hope chest, trunk, dollhouse, hat boxes, atomizers, sea foam green sewing machine and much more.

What’s your favorite color?
Grey-bluish-green.

Who are the models that you admire the most?
The ones that aren’t hot-headed, have a strong sense of who they are, and don’t let the industry get to them. I guess those are all sort of similar but they are important.

What is your biggest fear?
Being alone, and not in a relationship sense, more of a literal alone. Just simply having no one.

What’s the name of the movie that you watch over and over again and never get tired of?
Sword in the Stone.

What’s your favorite fashion magazine?
Lula.

Do you have any advice to young girls who want to become a model?
Probably the biggest tip I could give a girl is to really truly know who you are, because the industry can eat you alive and change you into someone who you don’t even recognize anymore.

We corresponded over email after meeting, and within a month I was signed to a summer contract with Bravo in Tokyo. I was 13 at the time I was scouted, and my life was changed forever. It was the best birthday present I have ever gotten!!

How did your friends react when they found out that you were a model?

Some were surprised, but most were very supportive.

What are your favorite places to shop?

Do you plan on attending college later?

Yes, I would like to go to NYU and study business and PR.

Charlotte Free Interview

By now we’ve all heard of Charlotte Free, she really got our attention with her pink hair and interesting personality. She was rocking the runway this season, and hopefully we’ll be seeing more of her!

So Charlotte, how did you get into the modeling business? I’ve heard that you’ve been approached by a photographer when you were 13 and it kind of started from there, right?
No, it was only last November. David Mushegain discovered me and that’s where it all started.

How did you parents react? Did they agree immediately into letting you pursue a modeling career?
They were happy for me and yes.

Before this all happened, have you ever thought of becoming a model? Did you ever see yourself where you are right now?
I’ve always known I would impact the world, but I never thought it would start off by modeling.

I saw in an interview that later on you’d like to make music. Do you have any idea of what kind of music you’d like to create?
Oh yes, I’ve had it in my head since grade school.

If, let’s say we hear a song by you on the radio, to which artist or band will it be similar?
None  ^_^

What’s your favorite place to shop?
The little hole in the wall boutiques you find here and there.

How would you describe your personal style?
I’ve been through every phase, so now I just use everything. I’m every style.

During fashion weeks, you often get to visit many cities! Although you don’t have much time to visit, which one has been your favorite so far?
London.

Do you have any hidden talents?
I can pick my nose with my tongue.

How does it feel knowing that you’re a role model for so many young girls?
I just never want to disappoint them.

What makes you happy?
The sunshine at home, animals.

If you weren’t a model, what would you like to do?
Make art.

Would you want to go to college in a few years?
I’ve always wanted to study the sciences, so yes.

What’s your favorite thing to eat?
Lemons.

What’s your all-time favorite movie and why?
Princess Monokoke is my spirit movie.

We hear a lot of scary stories about the fashion world. Is it really as cruel as people say it is?
Yes, but I don’t let that part of it affect me at all.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
I wouldn’t tell you.

If you could be any animal, which would you be?
Some sort of monkey, anything that moves freely.

How would you like to change the world?
I wish the people in power didn’t want us all dead.

What’s your favorite color?
Green. Since before I could even talk, my favorite color has been green.

More than any other person.

How did your friends react when they found out that you were a model?
They expect crazy shit out of me.

Do you see yourself dying your hair into brown, black or blond anytime in the future?
I might let it grow out.

Is it true that you prefer not to wear make-up unless it’s for a photo shoot or a runway walk?
Absolutely. Foundation is the scum on the earth. I rarely ever wear it and if I do its just eyeliner.

If you ever have kids one day, would you want them to go through the process of being a model, or would you rather them have a “normal” life?
Hell no will my kids be models.
